FIRST ACTIVITY

UNIT 1 MAKE SMALL TALL - CULTURE

Part 1:  Write a short paragraph tell how people greet each other in other countries and how you greet people.

Part 2:  How do you like to be adressed? How do  people call you? If you travel to another country, would you follow the local rules?

1) People greet each other in fascinating ways around the world, reflecting their unique cultural traditions and customs. For example, in Japan, a common greeting is a bow, the depth of which can convey different levels of respect. In India, people usually greet each otherwith a "Namaste", a gesture of folded hands and a slight bow, which expresses respect and recognition of the divine in each person. In France, atypical greeting is a kiss on both cheeks, while in some Middle Eastern countries, a warm handshake is accompanied by multiple cheek kisses.Personally, I like to greet my friends with hugs and I just extend my hand to
acquaintances.

Discussion

1-in you opinion, is it inappropiate for two people of very different status (such as a CEO and an assistant) to be on a first-name basis? explain

In my personal opinion, it is not inappropriate because both deserve the same respect within the organization, but we must respect hierarchies.

2-In general, when do you think people should use each other's names? when should they use titles and surnames? explain your reason

I think you should use mi full name in very formal situations, such as at work, university, and highly committed meetings.
